Ruthann Perry

Perry’s work is about transformation. Reclaiming lost parts—foundry molds, chair legs, chandelier pieces, discarded wood—she constructs horses (mostly).  Both free-standing and wall-mounted, these wooden sculptures are each distinctive in makeup and character.  Growing up one of six children, Perry learned to make “something from nothing.” Searching for and finding flotsam and jetsam became a compulsion. She continued to develop her skills as a prop buyer for NY theatre and national television.

Perry has been an art instructor at Saint Paul’s School of Princeton and continues to teach workshops at local arts councils. She maintains a studio near the Grounds for Sculpture, where she has lead found object workshops in their corporate education programs
